Small Data
Datasets that are easily accessible, informative, and actionable by humans without specialized distributed computing clusters.
Example: A local grocery store tracking daily receipt records in a single spreadsheet to reorder vegetables.
Big Data
Extremely large, heterogeneous, and high-velocity datasets that exceed the storage, management, and processing capacity of traditional RDBMS.
Example: Walmart processing >1 million customer transactions per hour, adding >2.5 petabytes to databases.
